JT, you’ve been in shipping & receiving, production and metallurgy at AHT. Tell us about the different things you’ve learned in your diverse experience.

I’ve learned that no matter what area I’m working in, the customer is the number 1 priority. No matter where I am or what I’m doing, there’s always improvement. Working in different areas has taught me that every job and role is equally important and necessary to keep our customers satisfied.

What does a typical day look like as a lab technician at AHT in Monroe, Michigan?

A typical day involves cutting samples and creating mounts, and then grinding and polishing samples for the required hardness testing, per each customer. We create certifications and sign off on product that passes testing for release. Any product that doesn’t pass gets red-tagged for quality review.

What is a rewarding project you’ve worked on and why?

When I was in shipping and receiving, I was part of a continuous improvement project that helped create time-saving steps.

We hear you’re big into concerts & movies. What are some of your favorites?

Some of my favorite concerts have been Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band (I’ve seen them 14 times), Billy Joel (especially at Madison Square Garden) and Elton John.

For movies, I like Beetlejuice (excited for the sequel!), Psycho, Creepshow, Tremors, and Big Trouble in Little China.

When you’re not at AHT, how do you like to spend your time?

I love spending time with my wife and son. I enjoy watching movies, trying new breweries, and reading. My favorite books tend to be fiction and history.

What is one thing people may not know about you?

I love going to horror conventions. My wife and I have volunteered at a local one, and we worked with a couple celebrities well-known in the horror genre. Pictured are JT and his wife with Robert Englund (Freddy Krueger) and the leads from "Killer Klowns from Outer Space."

What is one thing people may not know about Advanced Heat Treat Corp.?

We can ion/plasma nitride and UltraGlow parts up to 30 feet long in Monroe.

If you were to give our customers some helpful advice, what would that be?

What do you appreciate about working at AHT?

Summer is approaching. What are you looking forward to this summer?

My son’s 1st birthday in July, spending time outside with my family, and being able to see friends more often because of nicer weather.
