Meet Sam Eberhart

Sam, you joined the AHT team in July. Tell us about your training so far and how that has helped prepare you to better assist our customers with their heat treat needs.

Training has been a genuine pleasure at AHT. We have a very experienced, capable team that are eager to train and develop anyone that is willing to learn. Collaboration being encouraged is a breath of fresh air! The team has taken the pressure off me with customers at first because I don’t need to have all the answers. I just need to work with and learn from those around me and learn our customers’ needs through our team.

Prior to AHT, what was your professional background and how do you think that will come into play?

Post-college, I took a job with a manufacturer of custom thermal processing equipment in their commercial heat treat division. I started as a Business Administration Manager, then worked my way through the company over the years learning everything that I could. Along with my administrative responsibilities, I became the Quality Manager, Senior Lab Tech in the aerospace pyrometry lab, performed field calibrations, sold spare parts and I assisted in manufacturing the equipment when they needed help. I eventually became General Manager. I also spent a couple of years in the heavy equipment industry, then spent some time as a Construction Superintendent, constructing public safety communication towers. My experience with a furnace manufacturer gives AHT a different perspective of the industry. I hope to use my aerospace pyrometry experience at our Cullman, Alabama facility to become AMS compliant, opening a wider customer base.

What enticed you to apply at Advanced Heat Treat Corp.?

I had a strong desire to get back into the thermal processing industry after being out of the game for almost 5 years. AHT had a competitive advantage over other potential employers in the industry due to the culture and, by extension, the retention rate. I wanted to work for a company with a great culture, and AHT seemed like a great place to put down roots.

What are some things you’ve found interesting during your onboarding?

Throughout the onboarding process, I felt I was being treated more as a person and not just an employee. AHT evaluated my strengths, weaknesses, and even personality, and then used that data to help set me up for success. It was a blessing to have the opportunity to go to lunch with so many wonderful people and have time to get to know people on a personal level. At some point within the following month, I needed to reach out to each of those team members professionally for advice.

When you’re not working at AHT, how do you like to spend your free time?

AHT values family. Tell us about your family.

I’m the youngest of 5 kids. I have 3 older brothers and a sister, and we grew up in Grayson, Georgia. My wife’s name is Miral. She is originally from Tunisia and grew up on the Mediterranean. Our favorite thing to do together is travel. She is fluent in Tunisian, French, Arabic, English & Italian, making my travels much more enjoyable.

What is one thing people may not know about you?

I am ambidextrous. I can write, throw a baseball, golf, and most things left- and right-handed. Anything that I do left-handed has more finesse; everything I do right-handed has more power.

One of AHT's core values is passion. What are you passionate about?

I’m passionate about teamwork stemming from my time as an athlete. A cohesive team is a beautiful thing.

What is one thing people may not know about AHT?

Using the purple path, AHT has been able to retain more heat treat knowledge than competitors, giving us a competitive advantage.

If a customer were to visit our Alabama facility… do you have any recommendations that they should try to do there?

There is a wide variety of golf courses!
