Mitch, you’ve been employed at AHT since December 2021 and recently accepted a new role. Tell us about your journey at AHT.

I started as Heat Treat Support in December 2021. I did not know anything about heat treat before applying. Once I got hired and started, one of the most interesting things to me was seeing all of the various industries we receive parts from. I was in that role until February 2026, when I moved into the accounting clerk role at the Burton Ave. facility in Waterloo, Iowa. I currently get the best of both worlds each week. I still get to assist on the shop floor as well as do my primary job as Accounting Clerk.

What does a typical day look like for you as Accounting Clerk at our Burton Ave. location in Waterloo, Iowa?

As Accounting Clerk, I want to ensure billing is clear for our customers so they don't have to worry about those details. A few key parts of my day include:

Sending accurate invoices daily so customers receive timely and correct billing.
Being a main contact for invoice questions, helping resolve any concerns or documentation needs.
Keeping customer payment info up to date.
Processing payments and monitoring past-due invoices to keep accounts current.

Your facility is expanding. Tell us more about that and what that will mean for customers.

The expansion will be great for current customers as well as potential customers. With the expansion, this will allow our Burton facility to bring in new products that we have not been able to do previously. The expansion will allow for a lot of growth moving forward.

AHT values family. Tell us about your family.

My wife and I got married in 2018. We have two children. In our free time, we enjoy going for bike rides, being in the outdoors, and traveling. Last year we took a family trip to Colorado, and this year we are taking a family trip to Maryland.

AHT has a lot of different employee events. Tell us which event(s) are your favorite and why?

Two events really come to mind, the first is our tailgating event, where we get to grill out and play a bags (cornhole) tournament. The second is Employee Appreciation Week, when we get to go out for breakfast with our coworkers.

How do you like to spend your time outside of work?

In my free time, I enjoy fishing, golfing, and playing video games, my favorite game being Fortnite. I enjoy watching sports. My favorite sports to watch are basketball and football.

What is one thing people may not know about you?

In Iowa, there is a program called Iowa Master Angler. I have a few fish that I have submitted and received the Iowa Master Angler certificate for. The awards I received were all for largemouth bass, which need to be a minimum length of 20”.

What is an accomplishment that you are proud of?

My personal accomplishment is enrolling at Upper Iowa University while working full-time. I will graduate with a bachelor's degree in supply chain management. I'm almost to the finish line on completing my degree.

What is one thing people may not know about Advanced Heat Treat Corp.?

If a customer were to visit our corporate facility… do you have any recommendations that they should try to do in the Cedar Valley?

In the summertime, a great place to relax would be to spend a day at Lost Island Water Park. Otherwise, if you're looking for some good restaurants, a couple of local favorites of mine would be Chilitos in Waterloo, Mulligan's, and Whiskey Road in Cedar Falls.
