Q&As with Dan Sager
Dan, you’ve been with AHT since 1999. Tell us about your career path here at AHT.
I started working for AHT as a General Laborer in early March of 1999 while finishing up with school. Shortly after college, I became a Heat Treat Technician where I feel I began my long-term career with AHT. I quickly began working with all the vessels used for ion nitriding and doing much of the loading/programming on many different units.
After a few years of learning all the different types of machines and gaining knowledge on the ion nitriding process, I took a supervisor’s position on 2nd shift. I did this for many years and it was a great experience working with different employees.
For the past 5 years, I have been in my current position as Assistant Operations Manager on 1st shift and have enjoyed every minute of it. I couldn’t have a better group to work with and our customers are amazing as well.
In your current position as Assistant Operations Manager, what are your primary responsibilities?
A few of my responsibilities include:
- Contract review (making sure all received paperwork, specs, print revs are up to date, etc.)
- Scheduling work flow through operations and appointing personal to ensure work gets completed
- Training new employees on our standard operations
- Holding training sessions (MDI) for all employees on safety, OFI’s (opportunities for improvement), production orders and SSSS (See Something Say Something)
When you’re not working, how do you like to spend your free time?
In my free time, I enjoy spending time doing just about anything with my daughter. She just turned 11 years old so she definitely keeps me busy. Much of my time is also spent being on the water and the golf course whenever possible.
What are some major changes you’ve seen at AHT between the year you started and now?
So much has changed since when I started 22 years ago. (Wow that makes me feel old! LOL) Just one of the things that comes to mind is the building expansion and how big of a company we have become. Although we have gotten bigger, it seems we have all become closer due to our strong “AHT Family Values” we have all learned to live here at AHT. (AHT Family Values shown in image.)

What’s an accomplishment you are proud of?
I have a few, but the most important to me is becoming a father to a wonderful girl that I care for very much.
What is one thing people may not know about Dan Sager?
I almost attended golf school in South Carolina shortly after high school.
What is something others may not know about AHT?
Here at AHT we take customer satisfaction very seriously. If for some reason we don’t get something right the first time, we take that to heart and will get it right the next.
