Q&As with Lacey Cagle

Core ValuesLacey, you started at AHT in August 2025. What did you previously know about AHT and what influenced your decision to apply?

Having been in the same industry, I had the opportunity to interact with several AHT staff over time, and I consistently had a good feeling. I could tell that they embody the core values of the company (which I had researched and found on the AHT website). This is important to me, both what the core values are and that leadership demonstrates them, as that is what propagates culture.

Tell us about your professional background and how that has made for a smoother transition.

My background and experience, especially in the heat treating industry, has provided an ideal foundation for stepping into my role with AHT. I obtained a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, then worked in a few different industries; so having a healthy understanding of materials/process and exposure to various quality systems enables me to learn and adapt to the intricacies and specialties of AHT without being overwhelmed.

What does a typical day look like for you as Materials & Quality Engineer in Cullman, Alabama?

A typical day for me involves product release, contract review, post-process review, continuous improvement, and contacting customers as needed for clarification or missing information on POs. I see teamwork and collaboration take place on a daily basis, not just in Cullman but across all AHT facilities. I try to make something better or learn something new every day.

Your facility recently added a new piece of heat treat equipment. Tell us about that.

Cullman AHT just brought in an additional induction unit to selectively harden areas of considerably large parts to deeper case than our other processes are set up to achieve. It is specific, custom, yet versatile and allows us to be a part of a fascinating project. It has come with its share of challenges, which provides for a great learning experience; and I look forward to the growth this brings.

AHT values family. Tell us about your family.

I have a sizeable family – my husband and I have 6 kids (4 girls, 2 boys), 1 grandson; beyond that I have 2 brothers, 3 nieces, 2 nephews, a great nephew, and still fortunate to have my parents just 3 doors down. We are close (literally, my parents and brothers and I live all in a row on the same street) and have fun when we are together – never a dull moment – and I wouldn’t have it any other way!

Cagle FamilyHow do you like to spend your time outside of work?

I enjoy spending time with my family in any way, whether we are hanging out at home or going on an adventure. I like seeing and experiencing new things; generally, wherever I go, I go for the food. I also like to go to concerts, shows, museums, etc. but the beach is my favorite spot. I also spend a good amount of time outside of work baking.

How would you describe yourself?

I would describe myself as follows: Believer, wife, Mom, Lolli (my grandma name), picture taker, certified Piloxing instructor, bass guitar player, planner, obsessive compulsive, baker; I love a good party, punny jokes, and the stories where they live happily ever after.

What is Piloxing?

Piloxing is a fitness fusion class that combines elements of pilates, boxing, and dance. I fell in love with it in college and got certified to be able to teach in my hometown after I graduated.

If a customer were to visit Cullman, Alabama… what restaurants would you recommend?
