Beth Kamp, Advanced Heat Treat Corp.

Beth, you started at AHT less than a year ago. Tell us about your previous background.

Since I was 14, I have had some sort of sales, retail management and/or customer service career. I have sold insurance, cars and retail including managing clothing stores. When retail stores started to fizzle, I decided I wanted to get away from the long hours and weekends and went to work for a law firm as their receptionist.

Beth & Jeff KampHow did you learn about AHT and end up applying?

My husband, Jeff, began working at AHT in November of 2022 as the Quality Systems Manager. After starting, he learned that they were looking to hire an administrative coordinator because the previous one would soon be retiring. Considering the job duties were similar to what I was already doing at the law firm, he suggested I apply. (How fun it would be to work together!)

What were your first impressions of AHT?

It was wonderful. Everyone was so welcoming and helpful. Each person has their tasks and everyone is always willing to lend a hand. #Purple Path & #Teamwork!

What does a typical day look like for you as Administrative Coordinator?

Every day is a little different from the day before. I help out many (almost all) departments. My responsibilities encompass coordinating travel arrangements, conducting quality surveys, managing NDAs, updating customer records, maintaining PTO calendars, handling food orders, distributing incoming mail, and, of course, attending to phone calls and welcoming individuals who visit our corporate location. It’s fun to see what each new day holds; it could be something interesting with environmental paperwork or easy like laminating new signs.

Beth GranddaughterWe hear you welcomed a new addition to your family. Tell us more.

On November 20th, we welcomed our 5th grandchild, Carsyn Paige, who has already won her Pops and Mee-maw’s heart. (Yes, my grandma name is Mee-maw; my son picked it out. It’s from Young Sheldon.) Still not sure my thoughts on that one.

How else do you like to spend your time outside of work?

I love spending time with my husband (even if we seem like we are together 24/7) and with our friends riding Harleys, exploring different places in Iowa and the surrounding states. I also enjoy shopping with my daughter-in-law, decorating & sometimes crafting for each holiday.

What is one thing people may not know about you?

I was DeMolay State Sweetheart in 1985-1986.

To explain, DeMolay consists of Masonic 12-19 boys & Rainbow Girls 12-19, which you must belong in order to compete. There is local pageant then after that the winners go onto the state conference where you spend the weekend at their conference and they have a pageant & ball on Saturday evening where I was crowned. I attended different events throughout the state that year, meeting people and joining events.
