Q&As with Rob Jenson
Tell us about your background and your career path at AHT.
I started as a sandblaster in 2004. Since then, I've been a heat treat technician, lab technician, senior lab technician and for the past four years, I've been the process specialist lab supervisor at our Burton Ave location where we offer traditional heat treat such as induction hardening, carburizing, carbonnitriding, etc.

Tell us about a couple of the most interesting projects you’ve worked on over the years.
I worked on a project where we developed a specialized process for a small set of screws for satellites. The requirements were very tight, but the project was a success.
When you’re not working, how do you like to spend your free time?
I enjoy spending my time with my family, playing music and making furniture. If you scroll to the bottom of this blog, you can see a desk I made for our son for his high school graduation.
So, you're in a band. Tell us more about that.
Yeah, I'm in a hardcore band called Hardship; I am the bass player. We toured in 2019 and that trip is one of my favorite road trips ever.
What are some metallurgical services that AHT offers that our customers may not realize?
We offer batch blasting in our top-of-the-line tumble blaster.
What is one thing people may not know about you?
I have a strong faith in God.
Working in the lab, what advice would you give our customers?
I'd suggest giving us as much info as possible (i.e.- material, hardness, case core, micro, etc.). The more info we have, the better we can understand your needs for the parts such as distortion needs, critical areas or masking needs.
