Q&As with Mickey Dahmoun
Mickey, you have been at AHT since 1997. What brought you to AHT and why do you continue to stay?
I was referred by an old friend from AHT Monroe (he was in the sales department). I really enjoy my job and I've loved what I’m doing every day since 1995. It's an honor to work for a company like Advanced Heat Treat Corp.
What roles have you held at AHT over the years?
I have held the following positions at AHT in Monroe, Michigan: First shift leader, production supervisor, lab technician, and assistant operations manager. I am currently the plasma nitriding technical manager.
How many languages do you speak?
I speak four languages currently: Arabic, French, Italian and English. I am still learning Spanish.
During my life, I have been in six nations as an immigrant and/or student: France, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Greece and the USA. I was born in Morocco and have lived in the US since 1995.
Where did you go to college? What did you study?
I went to the University of Nimes in France for two years and then Montpelier University of Science to become a math teacher.
Tell us about a couple of the most interesting projects you’ve worked on over the years.
I have work on a lot of projects in the past 25 years - big and small gears, large stamping dies, aerospace jobs and more.

When you’re not working, how do you like to spend your free time?
I like to spend time with my wife and my youngest son, Marcel. I like fishing, gardening, and watching sports - especially soccer. (I’m a hard soccer fan of a team from Italy, As Roma.) I also enjoy long bike rides.
What are a couple things people may not know about you?
I was a soccer player for almost 25 years, playing in both the 2nd and 3rd division Moroccan Soccer League.
What is one thing our customers may not know about AHT?
We are experts in the field - especially in gas and ion nitriding. With the vast experience and knowledge we have, we can help customers find a solution for any heat treat-related question.
