Q&As with Kelly Carpenter
Describe your career path prior to working at AHT. How does your background help our customers?
Shortly have graduating college, I started working at a titanium manufacturing company first as a laboratory technician and then as a shipping and receiving supervisor. I was there for 5 years until I found the opportunity to start a laboratory at a steel service center. The laboratory was created in 6 months and AL2A accredited within a year. My knowledge of multiple different materials helps our customers with their nitriding needs.
Kelly, what does a typical day look like for you at AHT?
“Typically,” I start my day off in the lab, making sure everything is buttoned up from the day before and sometimes starting the lab analysis of that day’s products. If any metallurgical requirements are out of tolerance, I’ll reach out for customer approvals. You can then find me either working on writing processes for parts that come to AHT and verifying specific customer requirements.
When you’re not working, how do you like to spend your free time?
When I’m not working, I love spending time with family. I’m a watcher of all thing’s reality TV, The Bachelor, Survivor, etc. I love shopping for everyone but myself.
In your opinion, what makes Advanced Heat Treat Corp. the leader in nitriding?
Our attention to details – it’s not just about achieving the specifications the customer is looking for, it’s also about the finished product and what that looks like.
What professional (or personal) accomplishment are you most proud of?
The professional accomplishment I’m most proud of is building a lab and getting it A2LA certified. I taught myself about tensile testing and created something from nothing. I was told from the beginning that the certification we were pursuing was very difficult to achieve but I accomplished it.

My brother is also in the US Navy stationed overseas; we’re currently watching my nephew while my brother gets everything setup over there.
